Daytona Beach
Daytona Beach is world famous for its 23 miles of scenic white sand beaches. As early as 1902 automobiles first touched the sands of this beach racing at such "high" speeds of 57 mph and thus marking the beginning one of America's most popular events, auto racing. Now boasting as being the home of NASCAR, and nicknamed "The Birthplace of Speed". Daytona beach, with it's packed sands during low tide, was once the track on which not only high speed auto racing took place but motorcycle racing as well. Fans would make take their places on the sand dunes and enjoy the races up close.
Today, though racing is no longer permitted on it's beaches a maximum speed of 10 mph is permitted by the modern day beach driving enthusiast! Though the beach itself no longer hosts the races; it has become the "Most Famous Beach" for many other reasons two being the annual hosts of both Bike Week and Biketoberfest.
Though Daytona Beach has also been known as a hot spot during Spring Break, the local government has been progressively successful in it's efforts to create a more family friendly environment and welcomes visitors of all kinds! Birthplace of many famous Americans such as musicians The Allman Brothers, basketball player Vince Carter and PBS featured artist "Bob Ross", Daytona Beach also boasts of a beautiful Florida coastline that can be appreciated by taking advantage of it's many attractions such as swimming, volleyball, fishing, sailing, walking the boardwalk to enjoy a variety of food and much more!.
