Laguna Beach

Laguna Beach is a desirable resort beach, originally occupied by the Ute-Azteca indian tribe over 2000 years ago. It has always been known for it's tranquil setting. Even as early as the 1800's people flocked to this seaside village for a permanent home.

Laguna Beach was originally named by the Spaniards "Canada de las Lagunas" or Lagonas for the lakes and the lagoons which surround the canyon.

By the late 1800's, as the word spread, more and more people flocked to the seaside settlement filled with secluded coves and rolling hills, to plant themselves permanently. In 1903 the area was visited by artist Norman St. Claire from San Francisco. His impressive artwork, which was the result of his visit, lured many of his artist friends. Eventually, the beauty and serenity of Laguna Beach created an atmosphere for many an artist of the period.

Modern day Laguna Beach is host to a number of Festivals: Festival of Arts, Pageants of Masters, Sawdust Arts Festival to name a few. Heisler Park, with it's spectacular view is an area complete with a Main Beach, boardwalk, volley ball, children's playground, picnic tables, showers and restrooms. All this allowing a pleasurable visit even if you don't choose to stay at the numerous bed & breakfasts or hotels that are available year-round. Bridal parties and family portraits will have a perfect background in this section of Laguna Beach.
